Kipeto Energy

Recruitment of the community trust trustees

Kipeto Energy PLC (KEP) is excited to announce the launch of the recruitment process for trustees for their Community Trust. The Kipeto Board has spent time engaging with the community as to the make-up of the Trust and its strategic initiative and are excited to finally commence with the recruitment of the Trustees.

The Trust will have nine Trustees on its board.  2 connected to Kipeto, 1 independent member, 3 connected to the landowners of the project footprint, and 3 connected to the surrounding communities.  It is hoped that a diverse group of exceptionally talented people will be appointed.

As the Trust will be operational for 20 years, it is crucial that individuals with knowledge and experience in providing similar fiduciary responsibilities are appointed.  A Trustee holds legal liability, solely responsible for ensuring that the Trust management meet the Trust’s strategic objectives.

The Trustees do not get involved in the day-to-day running of the Trust’s activities but provide oversight to the Management team via 3 or 4 in-person meetings per year, with the occasional online engagements. Trustees are appointed for 3 years at a time, on a voluntary basis, meaning there is no payment for one’s time.

The Trust will execute on projects resulting from a detailed needs assessment in the areas of Education, Health, Water and Sanitation (WASH) and Sustainable Livelihoods.  Applicants connected to the project’s geographical footprint who have depth of experience in any of the thematic areas are thus encouraged to apply.

In order to ensure transparency and objectivity in the recruitment process, KEP has outsourced the recruitment function to AltGen Recruitment who have prior experience in recruiting similar roles.  AltGen will run with this process to ensure objectivity when it comes to who is appointed.  AltGen have put in place a rigorous process which ensures it is transparent, fair, devoid of any outside influence and meets the Trusts’ requirements.  KEP staff have no influence or authority over the process.

Suitably qualified applicants are advised to apply online at:, or alternatively submit their CV, Cover Letter and IDs to before 5pm on 10th May 2023. Interviews will take place during the week of the 15th-19th May 2023.
