Environmental & Social Impacts

The project is fully licensed by the National Environment Management Authority.

KEL has undertaken comprehensive Environmental and Social Impact Assessments within the proposed project area. These reports have identified both positive and negative impacts of the project in the Kipeto area. Where the impacts are negative, KEL has formulated corresponding mitigation measures under the project's environmental and social management plan.

KEL has explored various environmental impacts which may be affected by the Kipeto Wind Power Project. The key impacts are outlined below:

Wind turbines are not considered noisy.

Livestock and animals largely ignore wind turbines and are free to move around the turbine.

The overall visual impact of the project is considered low, given the isolated nature of the project area.

The project adheres to the best health and safety standards.
